Rural hospitals are lifelines for their communities, and having the right equipment means survival.

DID YOU KNOW???

All patient centred equipment over $1000 is paid for by the community. The Ministry does not fund equipment, Hospital Foundations do. That means YOU do.

These are just a few items we funded in 2024-2025. Total Funding was $795,000

  • Operating Room Lights - 63,387
  • Vitals Machine ( checks blood pressure, heart, temp) - 3,196
  • Beds for Mental Health Unit - 28,234
  • Panda Warmer ( obstetrics) - 51,681
  • Stretchers - 33,000
  • Portable Ultrasound - 60,000
  • Hematology Analyzer - 153,854

We raise these funds though monthly donors, annual giving, in memorial gifts, 3rd party events and our own special events like the Radiothon, Smile Cookie Week and our Long Table Dinner.

Here are some scenarios where the right equipment can make the difference between life and death:

1. Trauma from Farming or Vehicle Accidents

A farmer crushed by equipment or a victim of a highway collision may require a portable ultrasound, CT scanner, or advanced trauma monitoring to quickly assess internal injuries.

Thanks to you – we have a life saving CT Scanner

2. Severe Respiratory Distress

A patient with pneumonia, COPD, or an allergic reaction may need ventilators, BiPAP/CPAP machines, or an intubation setup to keep them breathing.

3. Stroke

When every second counts, a CT scanner and tPA administration tools help diagnose and treat strokes before permanent damage sets in.

4. Sepsis or Severe Infections

Without rapid intervention, infections can turn deadly. Automated blood culture analyzers and IV infusion pumps ensure early diagnosis and precise treatment.

5. Complicated Childbirths

In high-risk deliveries, fetal heart monitors, neonatal warmers, and emergency C-section surgical kits can save both mother and baby.

6. Cardiac Arrest or Heart Attacks

Defibrillators, EKG machines, and cardiac enzyme testing equipment allow immediate response when every heartbeat counts.

7. Poisoning or Overdose

In rural areas, quick treatment of pesticide exposure, carbon monoxide poisoning, or opioid overdose requires toxicology testing devices and ventilators.

8. Diabetic Emergencies

Uncontrolled diabetes can lead to diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) or severe hypoglycemia, requiring advanced glucose monitors and IV insulin infusion pumps.

9. Hypothermia or Heatstroke

Rural hospitals must handle extreme weather emergencies with warming/cooling blankets and temperature management systems.

10. Emergency Surgery for Internal Bleeding or Ruptured Organs

Without quick access to major surgical centers, a well-equipped operating room with anesthesia machines and laparoscopic surgical tools is essential.

YOU are the difference.

At our rural hospital, every heartbeat matters. When a child arrives struggling for air, we must act instantly. When a father clutches his chest in pain, the right equipment can mean the difference between life and loss. And when you or someone you love walks through our doors, we need cutting-edge technology to uncover the answers—fast.

At the AMGH Foundation, we fight for the best care, right here at home. But we can’t do it alone. Your support saves lives.
In a small rural hospital, specialized equipment is critical for handling life-threatening medical emergencies where time and access to larger facilities are limited.
