Our very first Alexandra Rose Long Table Dinner was held August 21, 2022 on the square in beautiful downtown Goderich. Guests were all dressed in white and it was stunning to see. The food was incredible and our guests were just buzzing with how magical it was.
We have held two additional and very successful Long Table Dinners in 2023 and 2024. Music has been added with the addition of the Trasah Panda Brass and the ‘Glen and Ben Show’ of auctioneers has added so much to our auction success. Glen McNeil and Ben Lobb are the Glen and Ben Show.
As many are aware, our hospital was named for Alexandra, Queen from 1901 to 1910. She was immensely popular and a fierce advocate of access to healthcare for those living in poverty. In 1912 she granted her patronage to the Alexandra Rose Day; an annual drive to sell roses to raise funds for the sick and needy. This charity has become an institution in the United Kingdom and is known today as the Alexandra Rose Charity. This was her most cherished legacy and life’s work.
The Alexandra Rose Long Table dinner is inspired by her patronage and advocacy for quality healthcare for all. The dinner takes place in late August. Patrons are treated royally with a champagne reception and a fabulous sit-down meal. This has been a fabulous occasion for family, friends, and colleagues to share not only a meal but a coming together as a community highlighting the incredible impact we can have when we unite for the health and well-being of our community.

Our annual Smile Cookie Campaign event puts a smile on everyone’s hearts and is a great FUN-raiser for the Foundation. Tim Hortons has sold a record-breaking number of cookies across Canada with millions raised for various charity partners. We thank Tim Horton’s, Allison Jefferies and her Team from the Huron Road location from the bottom of our hearts for being an enthusiastic partner to AMGH!

Our annual Radiothon for Hometown Health is another way we come together to raise funds for our community hospital. We have partnered with 99.7 Shoreline Classics FM, and Zehrs-Huron Road for the past three years and it has been such a great time. The station sets up right inside the store and we have guests come on air with Roland Archer, we share patient stories and enjoy the opportunity to meet so many of our donors face to face! This year Wicked Witches joined the fun with the addition of their Food Truck!
